PATAKI:  A UNIFIED NEW YORK IS A STRONG NEW YORK Pataki Receives Unanimous Support At Unified GOP Convention

New York, NY – In a resounding show of support for Governor George E. Pataki’s successful record of accomplishment for all New Yorkers, delegates at the New York Republican Party Convention gave the Governor their unified support today.  Governor Pataki officially became the Republican Party’s nominee by acclimation in a unanimous vote by convention delegates.

Governor Pataki said, “Today, New York’s Republican Party has demonstrated its commitment to working together in the spirit of unity.  We’ve selected a strong group of leaders dedicated to representing the interests of all New Yorkers.  Working together, we’ve cut taxes, created jobs and dramatically reduced crime.  Working together, we’ve invested in our children’s education, provided access to healthcare for our children and seniors and protected our environment.  This record of success is built on unity and pride. I’m proud of our Party.  I’m proud to accept your nomination.  Most of all, I’m proud of New York.” 

Erie County Executive Joel Giambra nominated the Governor saying, “Today is the day when we send a message of hope, continuity, leadership and harmony to the people of New York State.  Today we choose as our leader a man with the dignity, energy and integrity to restore New York.  That leader is Governor George Pataki.” 

The Governor’s nomination was seconded by:  his daughter Emily Pataki, Roberto Clemente, Jr., and Mayor of Hempstead James A. Garner.

Republican Party Chairman Sandy Treadwell said, “Governor Pataki has the unanimous support of our Party.  His strong record of cutting taxes, cutting crime, reducing welfare, supporting our schools, protecting our environment, and working every day to make New York a better place is second-to-none.  We are solidly united behind Governor Pataki’s successful record of leadership for all New Yorkers.”
