Honoring Women in Law Enforcement in Harlem March 5,2002 Story & Photos by Ralph E. Smith- Publisher Rev. Betty Neal and the Ministers of Harlem, USA Inc celebrated Women's History Month with a Medals Day Ceremony honoring "Women in Policing" and "Women in Firefighting from the following departments: The Amtrak Police Department, Howell Township Police Department, Manhattan District Attorney's Office, Middlesex County Department of Correction, New York City Department of Correction, New York City Fire Department, New York City Police Department, New York City Sanitation Enforcement Department, New York City School Safety Department, New York City Sheriff's Department, North Brunswick Police Department, Port Authority Police Department, U.S. Department of Defense Police Department, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Office of Investigation, Office of Inspector General, Washington Township, New Jersey Fire Department and Robbinsville. Robert N. Davoren Chief of the Department from New York City Correction Department presented 22 Women from Correction with Gold Medals of Appreciation. Rev Betty Neal was the Master M.C. and kept the spirit filled program honoring Women in Law Enforcement moving which was held at the Taino Towers Crystal Room, Touro College at 240 East 123rd Street. A moment of prayer was conducted for the deceased and the missing honoring the following Posthumously: 1)- Police Officer Moria Smith New York Police Depart 2)- Captain Kathy Mazza-Commanding Officer P.A 3)- E.M.T Yamel Merino- Metro Care Ambulate, NY Women in Law Enforcement were honored for their on and off the job achievements. Rev. Betty made sure every person in the room was acknowledged.
