She is a civilian member of the Guardians Association, and currently a senior attending New York City College of Technology. Her Major is Human Services and her final class project required that she complete a need assessment at her internship site, which is Bridges Juvenile Center. There she noticed a lack of a functioning library and limited funds to purchase books. Those interested can also subscribe to a teen magazine and have it sent directly to the facility. Malcolm X's Birthday "Don't Sit In, Standup" Cancer Survivors Celebrate Life At American Cancer Society Relay For Life The American Cancer Society invites individuals to honor cancer survivors or pay tribute to those who have lost their battles with cancer to join a Relay For Life in your community. Relay For Life is an overnight community celebration where individuals and teams camp out and walk or run around a local track "relay" style to fight cancer. Funds raised support cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services in the community. All cancer survivors are invited to celebrate their triumph over cancer by participating in an inspirational "Survivors' Lap" to open the Relay For Life. A candlelight ceremony at nightfall honors those who have lost their lives to the disease. Eleven New York City communities will hold Relay for Life events this spring and summer, including the Bronx: Lehman High School, 3000 East Tremont Avenue 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 04 through 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 05 The American Cancer Society is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by saving lives, diminishing suffering and preventing cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. A RAISIN IN THE SUN A MUST SEE PLAY by Ralph E Smith April 25, 2004 NYC: I never knew that Sean Combs could command the stage and bring a tear to my eye! The cast performance was outstanding. The play is about 3 hours but I lost track of time because I was feeling the show. The only thing I can say about it is go buy your ticket and be ready to cry, laugh. Great! Many thanks to Renee E. NABLEO (National Association Black Law Enforcement Officers) Held it's Spring Conference in Tarrytown, N.Y. on April 22-25, 2004. The conference was hosted by the Rockland/Westchester Guardians. The conference was a success. We had some dynamic and educational workshops. I want to thank everyone for making this conference a success.
