The Guardian Chronicle Story and Event Photos by Ms. Beverly Holder  The Grand Council of Guardians hosted their Sixth Annual Awards Dinner on Friday, October 24.  The event was held at Antun's in Queens Village, NY. A buffet style dinner and open bar were available to guests and honorees. Many were able to network and mingle before the start of the program. Among the guests which included Guardians of several city and state agencies were: NYC Corrections, NYC Police, NYS Courts, NYS Sheriff, and School Safety.  Guardians from as far as Westchester, Yonkers and Suffolk showed their support by attending as well. The Grand Council of Guardians' Ali-Al-Rahman served as Master of Ceremony and conducted a professional awards ceremony.  Several of the honorees gave short albeit poignant speeches.  Many honorees dedicated their awards to their coworkers and their fellow Guardian board members. New York City Deputy Mayor Dennis Walcott as an honoree received an award for his service.  Consequently Mr. Walcott was able to return the honor by presenting Mr. Charles Billups, Chairperson of the Grand Council of Guardians with an award from the Mayor's office.
