Immediate Release "DR. KING" Celebration, January 17, 7:00PM Join us for this special evening at the National Action Network's House of Justice to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King JR's birth. The play, "The Final Passion of Saint Martin The KING" will give you a greater insight into Dr. King, who he really was and how he related to his mother and she to him just before he left for Memphis and his final day. There will also be a dramatic reading and interpretation of what many say is Dr King's most significant speech. It is titled, "Why I Oppose the War in Vietnam." This speech which Dr. King gave on April 4, 1967 at The Riverside Church, exactly one year to the day before his assassination, rocked the political world. During that speech Dr. King criticized the growth of the military industrial complex and American involvement in Vietnam. That speech is as relevant today as America prepares for war with Iraq, as it was on the day that he made it. Some say it was that speech more than anything else that lead to his assassination in Memphis one-year later. This speech, "Why I Oppose the War in Vietnam" may be Dr. King's finest hour. An open discussion and a Q&A session will follow the speech. Frankie Adams, who is an authority on Dr. King, has developed a reputation for making his audience feel they are in Dr. King's presence when he recites King's speeches. He will also field the questions. Bring your children they will enjoy it, but more importantly they will learn some very important information. All are welcome. The admission is free, however donations will be accepted but not mandatory.
