President of NYC Correction Officers' Union Denounces Candidate Mark Green for His Appalling Accusation September 21, 2001

Noram Seabrook, President of the 11,500-member New York City Correction Officer's Benevolent Association denounced Mayoral Candidate Mark Green's campaign for accusing supporters of Mayoral Candidate Peter Vallone of campaigning during the blackout period that began September 11.

The Friends of Green complained to the New York City Campaign Finance Board that Vallone posters were found posted on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx on Monday and alleged they were "plainly posted" after the postponed September 11 primary.

Mr. Seabrook said he was "appalled that the Friends of Green would stoop so low as to accuse COBA of hanging posters on behelf of Peter Vallone during a blackout on campaigning.

"The difference between someone who would make that accusation and someone who would not is the difference between someone who done his homework and someone who has not,"Mr. Seabrook said, noting that members of his union placed the psoters September 9.

The COBA leader emphasized, however that he would continue to support Peter Vallone because he's the only one with the expertise and the experience to be Mayor of New York, and the only one who has worked side by side with our Commander-in-Chief, Rudolph W. Giuliani, in the task of rebuilding New York City."

He noted that members of the Correction Officers' Benevolent Association, members of the NYPD's Sergeants' Benevolent Association, Lieutenants' Benevolent Association., Captains' Endowment Association, Detectives' Endowment Association, and the United Sanitationmen's Association will be working on Primary Day in support of Peter Vallone for Mayor.  The primary election is Tuesday.
