Do It Anyway Submitted by Harold C. Smith- The Blue Belt Master from Germany December 1, 2002

Read these words from Mother Teresa. They are sure to make you stop and think!

People are often unreasonable,illogical, and self-centered;Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people mayaccuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;

Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;

Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;

Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;  Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;  Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway.

Keep The Marriage Strong March 3, 2003 by Ralph Smith

Life and a Wife is like a man and his car!  Most men love their cars because that car will take you far! Oil Change, and tune ups!  Do the same thing with your marriage and you will both end up in God's Grace! Stay in the race!

You Black Man!  Rise and Walk Like a King Written by Ralph E. Smith

What will this Black History Celebration bring this year.  Organizations, Association, and all kinds of groups are trying to be a bigger shade of black are getting ready to put on a show.  Like the Master Gil Nobel, please allow me, Brother Smith to tell it like it is.

How can thousands by represented by the 100 in name or deed.  We, who are brothers and sisters in community organizations and law enforcement need to understand that there are many beautiful shades of black.  Each shade has its unique history and pride, but only one tide brought us Black People here to the Unions and Cities where we work.

Brothers, I want you to think about what action will you take this month to set the tone for  the year!

Sample of Black History Month Call To Action List!

1)- Join your Guardian Associations:  Don't talk about it.  Do it!  Don't  put it down, build it up!  Don't talk about what the brother or sister is not doing, "What are you doing?  Don't focus on what makes us different, work towards our common goals:  Fair Work places and respect.  Don't play the wall, build the wall and a path for other young brothers and sisters to follow because one day they to shall lead.

2)- Build our Places of Worship:  My man, it don't matter about what you call God, just as long as you call upon his name for waking you up in the morning!  Again, we play each other on religion.  We hurt each other on names and labels.  Get real, time sooner or later will stop for each man and God will ask you about your life's plan.  Now you can look God in the face with a whole lot of faith and say, "I always tried to help someone or you can say I didn't go to that church or help that Jew because his cousin is a Muslim.  Fool, God is God and labels are man made and faith is the only way we as Kings are going to make a difference in this world!  We, the brothers  have to bring others into our places of worship and start having real fellowship with people!   How can you call me your brother or hey What up  when I only hear from you once every six months or when you need something.  Love!  Simple...We need to show love to each other in the form of a phone call or quick hit on the beeper.  Don't wait to hear," Did you hear about that kid..... He's dead.  Man it's too late to come running with the tears, fears, and I wish I had stuff.  Use this Black History Month to show a brother or sister you care about them by calling.  Reach out, someone just might reach back!

Brothers and Sisters in Correction through Out the World: You Hold the Key!  More than the steel key in your hand that locks bars and gates.  You the proud, professional Correction Officer have the ability to effect the lives of those under your care.  You are the direct link that can help someone get their life back together.  Yes, it's about Care, Custody, and Control, but you also have the opportunity to provide direction.  The odds are very high. The odds were high that you would be born and that black people would live through slavery.

But if your actions behind the walls help one out of 20 inmates get their live together and not come back to jail, then you earned more than a pay check.

3)-Develop More Social and Professional Networking Programs:  So many times, we don't know what job, school, and professional programs are available because we don't talk to each other enough!  This is another reason why Brothers and Sisters need to stay committed to their local Guardian Law Enforcement Associations, Community, and School  Organizations.  Many times what happens is we waste time, money and resources duplicating what established organizations have had for years!

4)- Be a Mentor to Youth:  Give back now so as we get older, we don't have to pay back for letting our young people run around with no direction.  You don't have to give an hour or a month of your time, you just have to do what you can do and again stay committed to doing something anyway you can to be a role model for yourself and for that young child, youth or adult.

5)- Looking for Committed Brothers:  No, I don't mean this on a mental level.  I mean committed to that action that you take to make better your family, your community and your work place.  What will you commit to this month and maintain through out the year!
