Mr. Joe Cirincione Receives Award from Ralph E. Smith- Publisher of the Guardian Chronicle May 25, 2002 Mark Baaden NYS Trooper Dear Trooper Baaden: My name is Ralph E. Smith. I publish the Guardian Chronicle which highlights law enforcement, community organizations, and youth. On May 23, 2002, I took my wife, Renee E. Smith and 80 year old mother, Ms. La-Una Smith out to celebrate my Wife's graduation from Master Program at the College of New Rochelle. My wife received her second Masters' and for such a great accomplishment, I wanted to take my family and visiting mother and father in-laws out for dinner. During my rush to leave, somehow I placed my mother's wallet on top of our jeep and the wallet fell on the highway. When we returned home, I was unable to find my mother's wallet and I started to think about what I did. I said to myself, Oh my God, if I did leave the wallet on top of the car, it's gone because if fell somewhere in the street, no body is going to be honest enough to go the extra mile and return money. I was very upset at myself for losing my mother's wallet. I thought to myself that who ever found it already spent the money on something and threw it away. The only thing that keep me going in a positive direction this weekend was my faith in God and good people. Tonight, May 25, 2002, Saturday I checked my phone messages and much to my surprise was a message from one of New York State's Shinning Law Enforcement Professional's: Trooper Mark Baaden who stated that the wallet was recovered by another outstanding honest person, Mr. Joe Cirincione who I understand is a runner. Thank you Sir for being so honest and concerned about my mother and returning her wallet! God will truly bless you and your family! I'm a writer and photographer, but words really cannot express my joy and renewed believe in good people! The fact that $1,149.21 is still there means that God is the reason why we all get up in the morning and is also the reason why I want Governor Pataki to know the Outstanding Personal Good Deed of Trooper Mark Baaaden and an Outstanding Citizen of New York State Mr. Joe Cirincione who returned my mother's money to trooper Baaden! In summary, I would like to retrieve the wallet and at the same time if possible thank both Mr. Joe Cirincione for being the first line of good will and Trooper Baaden for going the extra mile! I would like to take a photo for my news magazine. I need to show my appreciation with an award from the Smith family that will properly show the respect and appreciation we have for both Mr. Cirincione and Trooper Baaden! I will reach out May 26, Sunday because it's too late for me to call him and I will also cc this Letter of Appreciation to Governor Pataki and highlight Trooper Mark Baaden as the Trooper of the week in the Guardian Chronicle available by going to http://guardianchronicle.com Please send this letter to Trooper Mark Baaden and let him know that I would like to stop by Monday to pick up the wallet and present him with a hard copy of this letter, a reward and express our appreciation for him. Sincerely' Ralph E. Smith
