Andrew Roane- Retired Vice President of the New York City Correction Guardians Association Speaks Out About Claims of Irish Mistreatment in the NYC Correction Department

November 3 "Special to the Guardian Chronicle.Com"

I read with interest in the Oct.31st issue of the Chief News Paper where the former President of the Emerald Society Brian Sharkey was complaining about Irish-Americans within the Dept.of Correction being so mis-treated.

It’s amusing that he of all people would be complaining about any undue favoritism given to Blacks considering, how several of HIS members were promoted even when it was alleged that some of his members had failed the promotional exam to Captain.

Ask Mr.Sharkey does he remember in the ‘80's when the Guardians bought it to the attention of the New York City Correction department of certain members of the Emerald Society who were (allegedly) wearing tatto’s depicting black babies with a noose around their necks!!!

Yes Mr.Sharkey, you and your beloved Emerald Society are in no position to complain. Didn’t former commissioner Fraser take care of you and your people on many occasions.

Well now that he’s gone..it’s just a matter "what goes around..comes around"

So stop crying and enjoy your retirement,

Andrew Roane-retired

Former Vice-President

Guardians Association
