CORRECTION DEPARTMENT CHAPLAIN

IMAM ABDU-SHAHID

RELEASED WITHOUT BAIL

February 9, 2010/ 4:00pm- Imam Abdu-Shahid released without bail!  The Grand Jury refuses to indict the New York City Correction Chaplain!  This is a clear victory for a case that never should have been in the court room. . Imam Abdu-Shahid made a serious error , but as this paper reported, he did not intentional attempt to introduce contraband into a correction facility.

The manner in which this case was handled by the NYCD was wrong. A well respected member of the NYCD should have have been treated with respect and given a form of due process that doesn't start with an arrest! Was he treated differently because he is a Muslim?

This paper and the New York City Correction Guardian Association, Inc are happy that at the end of the day, the New York City Justice system made a decision that this case should be thrown out.

At the time this paper released this breaking news, Imam Abdu-Shahid was in prayer thanking God, Family, and Friends for support.  As the saying goes, God is Good All the time and God will lift you up every time.
