Announces Scholarship Fund Established In Honor of Peter Figoski
New York City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly today announced that the New York City Police Foundation has established the Police Foundation Peter Figoski Scholarship Fund. Officer Figoski, a 22-year veteran of the police force, was murdered in the line of duty on Monday, December 12, in Brooklyn, NY. The fund will pay for the education of his four daughters.
Commissioner Kelly also thanked the New York Post for launching The Peter Figoski Education Fund with a $25,000 gift.
Police Commissioner Kelly said, “I want to thank the New York City Police Foundation and the New York Post for establishing scholarship funds for Police Officer Figoski’s four daughters. Police Officer Figoski gave his life for this City, and as a New Yorker I am proud to see so many people reach out and express appreciation for Officer Figoski, and support for his daughters who have lost a loving father.”
“Our hearts go out to the family of Police Officer Peter Figoski of Brooklyn’s 75th precinct,” said Valerie Salembier, New York City Police Foundation Board Chair. “Every day, the brave men and women of the NYPD put themselves in harm’s way to protect the citizens of New York. Officer Figoski was an exemplary police officer in every way, and his dedication and commitment to this City will never be forgotten.”
