The New York City Department of Correction Continues To Give To Families at the SCO Family of Services December 17, 2009 by Ralph E Smith- Reporter Guardian Chronicle.com The seeds of this community toy distribution program were planted by Retired NYCD Care Unit Captain Santiago 30 years ago. The seeds of giving back to youth in Brooklyn during the Holidays is alive and well. The NYCD staff put in many hours collecting toys from staff at various facilities to wrap and prepare each gift for the hundreds of children at the SCO Family of Services Center. The Correction Captain's Association, Inc gave their support by sponsoring the clown entertainment. Every year the CCA provides financial support for entertainment to make sure the children have fun. Santa- is retired Captain Fred Bucci from NYCD. This man has been our Santa on and off the job for years! Santa Fred loves children. Together Santa and the New York City Department of Correction Staff burned the midnight oil to ensure that every child leaves the center with toys. This year, the NYCD gave out the most bikes. Seven Bikes to seven happy children. Ms. Carmen Wagner and Ms. Theresa Tucker: Administrators at the SCO Center make the distribution of hundreds of toys look easy. They are behind the lines making sure each child gets a toy and a hug from Santa and the NYCD Staff. HOLIDAY COMMUNITY PHOTO PAGE
