MEET THE JONES FAMILY

Remember those family reunions in North Carolina. Eating chicken on 95 South on your way to Butter Milk Country. We learned how to bring the food because in the 1950's black people were not allowed in many hotels along the road.  People of color learned how to over come, rise up and achieve anything we could conceive.

Remember your Aunts, Uncles, the smell of pigs and Mother Jones Chocolate Cake waiting for you when you arrived from New York at about 1:00am in the morning.  Mother Jones could bake a cake that I still miss 30 years later!  Mother Jones was no joke.  A loving Grand Mother that always knew when I was up to no good like throwing rocks at the pigs.  Boy, What are you doing?  You better stop that before I tell your Father.

My father was my first superhero: Black Man, not Bat Man.  Through  the storms of life, Pop was the man who directed the family.  He never turned away and held the family on his back. To my Dad and all the dads in the world who deal with the daily mess: $4.00 dollars for a gallon of gas, but you find a way to get the family to school and work, much love to you.

To all the powerful great women in our lives and men who made the time to show us Real Love and how to Man up: you are about to meet the Jones.  The Jones could be your family.  The Jones are everywhere. We are proud of our lawyers ,nurses, teachers, preachers, correction, military, air marshals, and the children.

You will also meet my cousin

Johnola Smith from Willamston, North Carolina
