NORMAN SIEGEL THANKS THE GRAND COUNCIL OF GUARDIANS FOR THEIR ENDORSEMENT

First of all, I want to thank each and every one of you for officially endorsing my candidacy for New York City Public Advocate. The support of the Grand Council of Guardians is especially meaningful to me because of our long history together. I know you stand with me now because of our shared vision for a better New York.

New York City is the only city in the United States that has a Public Advocate’s Office and a Public Advocate whose job it is to represent the people against government. The potential for the job is vast, but the unfortunate reality is this important office has all too often failed to deliver effective advocacy for all New Yorkers. This is a situation that I am committed to change, but I can’t do this alone. I need your help.

As a lawyer, I have represented a diverse range of people and issues, however, the common thread in my career is my unswerving commitment to insuring equality and opportunity for everyone. I know you agree, that in a free democracy, we cannot accept less. It is our shared commitment to these ideals and goals that led me to seek the office of Public Advocate.

My campaign comes from the grassroots and is fueled by the wonderful energy from growing numbers of concerned New Yorkers like you, who share my goals and ideals.

According to the current guidelines of the NYC Campaign Finance Board, every contribution from a New York City resident up to $175 is matched on a 6-to-1 basis by public funds. That means your contribution of $50 is worth $350, your $100 contribution is worth $700 and a $175 contribution to our joint effort is worth $1225. Every dollar counts. In order to qualify for these matching funds, my campaign needs to raise a total of $125,000 by July11, 2009. We are drawing closer every day, but I need your help today to guarantee we make this important goal.

The September primary is fast approaching and I am campaigning hard in all five boroughs. All too often, I find myself in front of voters who aren’t even aware of what the New York City Public Advocate does. Working together, we can change that, but first I have to win this election.

Receiving the endorsement of the Guardians is a great honor. Now I am asking you to reinforce that endorsement with your personal financial support. Please send in your contribution today to New Yorkers for Norman Siegel, 260 Madison Avenue New York, NY 10016 or go to http://normansiegel.com and make your contribution on-line.

With thanks and best regards,

Norman Siegel
