The Guardian Chronicle Trip To Washington was like a great big family reunion on Highway 95. We were interviewing people from California at the Maryland House Rest Stop. People who remember the color only signs spoke to us with tears in their eyes and pride in their voices.
The 5 degrees outside had no affect on the passion of millions that came together in Washington to be present for history: Barack Obama- the 1st African American elected by the people of the United States to be the leader of All People.
So many people said, "They didn't have to be on stage. I just had to be here today to be among the people to see Mr. Obama who brings so much hope to the World."
Shaquan Smith- a young grade school age African American put on his layers of clothes and traveled to Washington to be part of history and to write his story from his eyes for the Guardian Chronicle. See Story in January 22, 2009 Special Edition
Many thanks to the hundreds of people we meet on the highway, in the Washington Metro Train System, local news people, people standing near the giant TV Screens, and our Federal U.S Worker friend from Georgia. Mary Marthia.
